Every fee split into school charges and government charges, so you know the real total before you enrol.

The short version

A full light-vehicle licence from scratch costs AED 6,064 all in. If you hold a valid licence from a qualifying country you may pay AED 3,194 (Golden Chance) or as little as AED 1,000 to swap it directly. Separately, extra road training can be bought on its own from AED 600 — that is training only, not a licence.

Two different things are priced on this page

Licence packages are the total cost of getting licensed — our service fee plus the government fees paid to Abu Dhabi traffic authorities. These range from AED 1,000 to AED 8,432 depending on your category and vehicle type.

Road training packages are extra practical lessons bought on their own, for people who already have a driving file open and simply want more time behind the wheel before the road test. These start at AED 600 and are not the price of a licence.

These are complete figures. The service fee is what you pay ALWAFAE; the government fee goes to the traffic authority. Nothing further is added at the end.

💡 Which one applies to you?

It depends on your existing licence, not on us. Holders of a valid licence from an approved country may swap directly for AED 1,000 with no lessons and no test. Others qualify for Golden Chance, which reduces the required lessons. Everyone else takes the Full Package. Bring your existing licence and we will confirm your category free of charge, before you pay anything — or read the eligibility guide first.

Road Training Packages

These are for drivers who already have a file open and want additional practical lessons before sitting the road test — commonly people retaking the test, or returning to driving after a long break. They do not include the licence itself, government fees, or the test.

Every licence package above takes you through the whole process:
